Lady Gaga and ginger tea are inseparable partners!

Lady Gaga, undoubtedly one of the hottest acts in the pop music industry, has recommended drinking a cup of ginger tea to fellow singers.
Her obsession with ginger tea was inadvertently revealed when the singer left her favorite teacup and saucer set in one of London's trendy restaurants in April. In months past, Lady Gaga has been photographed sipping her favorite herbal infusion from that particular cup and saucer set, which features an elegant floral design and a gold handle. |
Realizing that she may have lost her beloved tea cup set, she reportedly sent back a cab from her hotel to the restaurant to retrieve it. Fortunately, the teacup set was still there and Lady Gaga has been sipping her ginger tea from that cup to this day.
Curiosity about the teacup ballooned soon after that incident, which prompted her spokesman to declare that: "Lady Gaga does not want to reveal anything about the teacup itself, but drinking ginger tea is very good for singers."
The public has actually been treated to glimpses of a seeming love affair between the hot beverage and the "Poker Face" and "Bad Romance" singer. Last year, Lady Gaga was interviewed in Jonathan Ross' show in the BBC as she sipped ginger tea from her trusty teacup throughout. In February 2010, she performed onstage at the Brit Awards dressed as - you guessed it - a teacup!
Now, the tea industry has been brewing with speculations that the singer is set to become the drink's 'ambassador'. If it comes into fruition, this could set the stage for a revival in interest in tea drinking among Lady Gaga's millions of young fans.
In the last several weeks, Lady Gaga's management team has received endorsement offers from all the major tea brands. But it seems that at the moment, the venerable English firm Twinings has exhibited the most dogged determination to get her services.
The company is said to want to "launch a new tea with her face on it". It has been reported that Twinings seems to be going in the direction of an "Oriental flavoured" tea and names like "The Taste of Gaga" are said to be attached to it. There are also discussions on tasting sessions in which she would participate in.
While Lady Gaga's favorite ginger tea is not exactly a tea in the true definition of the word, herbal infusions and tisanes (which are the correct terms instead of tea) have always been linked with teas.
Ginger tea has long been a favorite of singers and stage performers in Asia for its perceived ability to clear hoarseness of the voice. It is also a favored drink in that part of the world to restore the voice after it has been lost due to overexertion and use.
Apart from the benefits to the voice, ginger tea is also said to help alleviate persistent cough, bronchitis and respiratory congestion. Ginger tea is also believed to help relieve chronic pain, improve the digestive processes, and alleviate nausea.
Ginger tea has been a staple health drink in many parts of the world since the herb was discovered during the time of antiquity. Having an icon of the new generation in the person of Lady Gaga may help re-introduce this herbal drink and other teas to a younger set of people. And with the type of lifestyle that many of them lead nowadays, they will surely need the vaunted and time-tested health benefits of ginger tea. |

Ginger Tea Benefits Trivia:
Did you know that:
Ginger was first used by the ancient Chinese and Indians as early as 5,000 years ago primarily as a tonic root for a wide array of ailments. The widespread use of ginger in cooking meats and other food items did not take place until about the 13th Century.
Ginger was widely used by the ancient Romans as a medium of exchange. It had quite a high value as it was said to be equivalent in value to a live sheep.
Ginger tea is often paired with honey in the treatment of many ailments. Honey is typically added to freshly-made tea to sweeten the taste. The pair is used as a remedy for sore throat, persistent cough and other respiratory problems. This tandem is also used to restore the voice by clearing away the phlegm.
Ginger tea is likewise often paired with lemon when used as a home remedy in the treatment of colds and other respiratory ailments. Fresh lemon juice is typically squeezed into the ginger infusion to add a zesty tang to the spicy flavor of the drink.
Ginger comes from the same family as cardamom, galangal and turmeric. They all come from the Zingiberaceae family and are collectively known as the 'spice lilies'. These four spices are noted for their ability to help stimulate the production of gastric juices, bile and saliva which have enzymes that promote the proper digestion of food.
Ginger has a considerable amount of Vitamins C and E. It is believed that these contribute to the antioxidant qualities of this herb thus making it a viable free radical scavenger. These also contribute to the anti-inflammatory properties.
Ginger has a high content of potassium that allows it to help protect the body against bone fragility, muscle weakness, mental apathy and heart and kidney damage.
